Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the RedactAI mobile application and the website at redact-ai.co (collectively, the "Service"), provided by RedactAI ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18, you confirm that you have obtained the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

2. Description of the Service

RedactAI lets you:

• Point your device camera at documents, slides, PDFs, or spreadsheets shown on a screen and turn the visible text into editable text on your device;
• Automatically clean up recognition errors on your device;
• Redact sensitive information — such as names, organizations, and figures — automatically or using custom words you define;
• Copy the resulting text or hand it off to other apps and AI services of your choice.

The Service runs on your device. Recognition and redaction depend on your device's capabilities; accuracy is not guaranteed and may vary with lighting, camera quality, and the content being captured. You should always review the output before relying on it.

3. Free Tier and RedactAI Pro Subscription

RedactAI is free to try, with a limited number of lifetime captures included at no cost. To continue capturing without limits and to unlock privacy redaction, you can subscribe to RedactAI Pro.

• Plans and pricing: RedactAI Pro is offered as a Monthly plan at $6.99/month and an Annual plan at $49.99/year (US pricing; prices may vary by region and are shown in your local currency in the App). There is no free trial.
• Billing: Subscriptions are sold through the app store platform where you downloaded the App. Payment is charged to your app store account at confirmation of purchase.
• Auto-renewal: Your subscription automatically renews at the then-current price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• Managing and cancelling: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your app store account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; the current period remains active until it ends.
• Price changes: We may change subscription prices. Changes apply to future billing periods and, where required, will be communicated to you with the option to cancel before they take effect.
• Refunds: Purchases are handled by the app store platform and are subject to its refund policies. We do not directly process payments and generally cannot issue refunds; refund requests should be directed to that platform, except where a refund is required by applicable law.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service lawfully and responsibly. You must not:

• Capture or process content you do not have the right to capture, or that you are contractually or legally obligated to keep confidential;
• Use the Service to infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or confidentiality rights of any person or organization;
• Use the Service to capture content in violation of the rules of a venue, meeting, exam, or presentation where recording or copying is prohibited;
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or tamper with any part of the Service;
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security or licensing feature;
• Use the Service through automated means to abuse or bypass free-tier limits or subscription controls.

You are solely responsible for the content you capture and for how you use the text the Service produces, including any material you paste into third-party AI tools.

5. Your Content

The images you capture and the text the Service produces are yours and are processed on your device. We do not receive, store, or claim any ownership of your content. Because your content is not transmitted to us, we have no access to it.

6. Intellectual Property

All elements of the Service — including its design, interface, code, graphics, text, and the RedactAI name and logo — are owned by or licensed to us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on your device's operating system and lets you hand text off to third-party apps and AI services of your choice. Your use of your device platform and any third-party app or service is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the conduct, content, availability, or data practices of third-party services.

8. Service Availability and Modifications

We strive to keep the App functional and up to date but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may, at any time, modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service, adjust free-tier limits, or update the App to remain compatible with new devices and operating systems. We are not liable for losses arising from such changes.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that text recognition or redaction will be accurate, complete, or error-free. Redaction is an assistive feature and may not detect every piece of sensitive information; you are responsible for reviewing output before sharing it.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RedactAI and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, or from any sensitive information that was not redacted, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 20. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including consumer protection rights where required by the law of your jurisdiction.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless RedactAI and its affiliates from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms; (b) content you capture or process; or (c) your infringement of any third party's confidentiality, intellectual property, or privacy rights.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law. We will attempt to resolve disputes in good faith. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be referred to the courts of competent jurisdiction. If you are located in the EEA or UK, nothing in these Terms affects your mandatory rights as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence.
