The short version: RedactAI does everything on your phone. Nothing you capture is stored by us or sent anywhere — no servers, no account, no tracking. Your content never leaves your device.
RedactAI ("we", "us", or "our") operates the RedactAI mobile application (the "App"), which lets you point your camera at documents, slides, PDFs, or spreadsheets shown on a screen, turn them into text, redact sensitive information, and copy or hand the result off to other apps of your choice.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your privacy and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable privacy laws. By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.
1. Our Approach to Privacy
RedactAI is built to work entirely on your phone. The App does not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on any server, and we have no way to see the content you capture. Because everything happens locally, there is simply no copy of your data anywhere but your own device.

2. What Stays On Your Phone
The following is processed on your phone only. It is never transmitted to us, and we never see it:
- Camera images: The live camera view is used only to find and read the text you point at. Images are processed in the moment and are not saved to your photo library or sent anywhere.
- Captured and cleaned-up text: The text produced from what you capture stays on your device.
- Redactions: Any masking of names, organizations, figures, or your own custom words happens on your device.
- App preferences: Your settings and usage counts are stored locally on your device.
3. What We Do Not Collect
- We do not require or create an account, and we do not collect your name, email, or phone number.
- We do not operate servers that receive your captured images, text, or redactions.
- We do not use analytics, advertising identifiers, or cross-app tracking.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not sell or share your personal information — there is nothing to sell, because we never receive it.
4. Subscriptions and Purchases
RedactAI offers an optional paid subscription ("RedactAI Pro"). Purchases are handled by the app store platform through which you downloaded the App. That platform processes the transaction and manages billing; we never receive or store your payment details. Your subscription status is confirmed on your device to unlock features.
5. Handing Off to Other Apps
When you copy your text or choose to open it in another app or AI service, the text leaves the App at your direction and is placed where you send it. From that point it is in your hands and is governed by the privacy practices of whatever app or service you choose to use. We recommend redacting sensitive information before handing text off to any third-party service.
6. This Website
The website at redact-ai.co is a simple informational site. It does not use cookies, analytics, or advertising trackers. It may load standard web assets, such as fonts, from third-party providers to display the page. No personal data is collected by us through this site.
7. Data Retention
Because your content stays on your device and is never collected by us, we hold no personal data to retain or delete. Anything stored on your device is removed when you delete the App or clear its data. There is no server-side copy anywhere.
8. Security
Keeping your data on your device is our core security measure: content that is never transmitted cannot be intercepted or breached on a server. Data stored by the App benefits from your device's built-in security protections. 9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Since the App does not collect personal data at all, this is inherently the case.
10. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights over personal data a company holds about you — including access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection. Because RedactAI does not collect, store, or process your personal data, we hold no such data about you, and there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, delete, or export. You remain in full control of what is stored on your own device.

11. Responsible Use of Captured Content
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to capture and process any content you point the camera at, and for complying with the confidentiality, copyright, and privacy obligations that apply to material shared with you (for example, in a meeting or presentation). RedactAI is a tool that processes what you choose to capture; the responsibility for what you capture and how you use the resulting text rests with you.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or legal requirements. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
